The most reliable chances to see Alaska's northern lights (also known as Aurora Borealis) are in Fairbanks, Alaska. The aurora belt in Alaska's great interior and Arctic regions is among the most active in the world, and there are few other places on earth so suited for an aurora tour. It is reported there are more than 200 days can view the northern lights in Fairbanks. 
Our yurt for aurora viewing is located at Borealis Basecamp sitting on the mountain ridges surrounding Fairbanks. It is away from the light pollution and noise of the city, not only do you enjoy brilliant auroras, but also activities provided. Through the video played in the Borealis basecamp you may learn more of the aurora borealis.  

Your Aurora journey begins with hotel pick-ups at 9pm. The van will leave Fairbanks at 10pm. The drive to the lodges lasts about 45 minutes depending on the road conditions. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will enjoy 3 hours of free time to watch for the Aurora, take pictures and enjoy a cozy Alaskan home setting.  Depending on the Aurora’s condition, we will leave for Fairbanks between 2 - 3am

  • Cabin may be a wooden style or a Mongolian yurt
  • Make sure to dress warmly for the sub-Arctic temperatures in Fairbanks and bring hot packs for yourself and your camera.
  • It is suggested that  you learn how to use your camera before you come.
** Please note that the Aurora Borealis are a natural phenomenon. We cannot control the weather or the Aurora's appearance. We will not refund money if the Aurora do not come out. Please check the weather report before booking. If there are clouds, the Aurora may be out, but they will not be visible to us.
